A noun is a word that names a person, place, thing, or idea. Nouns can be countable (e.g., book, books) or uncountable (e.g., water, information).

**Countable Nouns:** These can be counted. They have singular and plural forms.

Examples: book → books, child → children, woman → women

**Uncountable Nouns:** These cannot be counted individually. They only have one form.

Examples: water, information, advice, furniture, luggage

**Noun Phrases:** A noun phrase consists of a noun and its modifiers (articles, adjectives, other nouns).

Example: "The old brown leather bag" (noun: bag, modifiers: the, old, brown, leather)
