An adjective describes or modifies a noun.

Types of Adjectives:

  • Size: big, small, huge, tiny
  • Age: old, new, young, ancient
  • Color: red, blue, green, purple
  • Quality: good, bad, beautiful, ugly
  • Origin: American, French, Chinese
  • Material: wooden, silk, metal, cotton
  • Position of Adjectives:

  • Before noun: a beautiful house
  • After linking verb: The house is beautiful.
  • **Adjective Order:** Opinion → Size → Age → Color → Origin → Material → Purpose → Noun

  • Example: lovely, little, old, brown, French, coffee table
  • **Comparative (Comparative Form):** Used to compare two things.

  • Add -er: taller, bigger
  • Use "more": more beautiful, more interesting
  • **Superlative (Superlative Form):** Used to show the highest degree.

  • Add -est: tallest, biggest
  • Use "most": most beautiful, most interesting
